After initial skepticism that 480p and a cable would really make much difference, I am now a true believer. I play the Wii on my 47″ Vizio (1080p capable) and the clarity difference w/ the component cable is truly amazing. My assumption is that it may not make any difference on a tube TV displaying at 480i, but if you have an HDTV, I highly recommend the Wii component cable. Once installed, don’t forget to set your Wii to display at 480p…

This is a high-quality product must-have Wii product at a low price (3rd party vendor).
Note this is the heavy-duty HD cable version (vs. the slim one). Got this at an excellent price and it does the job. Cable works wonders on my friend’s 52″ widescreen Samsung. On my Sony 36″ tube XBR (6 years old), which is 480P HD-ready, there’s some improvement but not huge. Overall, I’m satisfied and can’t wait till I upgrade my TV. Note the Wii is only 480P so don’t expect those jagged/boxy edges to fall off. Definitely worth it if you have a good HD TV set and can spare the component inputs (vs. coaxial).
*Note some people forget to adjust the Wii settings to output 480P (ETV/Enhanced = “HD, 480P) and widescreen/regular, which may explain why they don’t see ANY improvement vs. regular coaxial. You can’t just plug it in and expect the Wii settings to auto-detect and change! Meanwhile, some expect a ‘true HD’ miracle despite the Wii systems’ limitations.

I realized about 1 week into using the Wii on my HDTV that something was off. The graphics were blurry and there was Wiimote lag. After some contemplation, I reasoned that both issues were related to the signal being sent to the TV. The blurry graphics? 480i. The delay in response? The HDTV converting the ancient 480i signal into 480p. You see, the Wii ships with last generation RCA connectors (Red, Yellow & White). These work fine on a Standard TV, the 480i signal is its bread and butter. To upgrade to an HDTV-friendly signal you need component cables.
Enter this product: $4 + S&H ($10 total)on Amazon for a cable that costs $25 in the stores. It does exactly what the more expensive product does: sends a 480p signal to your HDTV from the Wii. The difference is rather astounding and immediately noticeable. Wii controller movement is sensed almost instantly, and the graphics are clearer and crisper. These cables unlock the full power of the Wii on your HDTV. For under $10 you can’t go wrong.

Soon after getting my Wii, started thinking about replacing the factory cable with the high resolution version. On my 60″ Sony, the picture was terrible with my original setup. About a month later I replaced my receiver with a newer version that does up-scaling of any source to HDMI 1080p. The improvement in the picture was amazing. I then wondered how much better it could get.
So I purchased the High Resolution component cable. There is some minor improvement, but nothing really to write home about. From 8 feet away the picture looks just as sharp as the factory cable with the up-scaling receiver. Just for kicks, I hooked it all up using my original receiver and I was amazed at how much better the picture was than with the factory cable.
Basically, if your receiver can perform up-scaling, you won’t find much use for the High Resolution Wii component cable. If you don’t use a receiver or have an older one, then this is the product for you.

Well, for under $10, Composite sounds nice, and it seems nice..(since once you have HDTV, you want everything HD)
but is it just me or when the screen is blank, it shows lots of noise on TV..When game screen’s on, overall, i’m satisfied, but either when it’s loading or pre-game screen, it shows lots of ‘dust-looking’ noise on TV.
Other than that..it’s all good.
