A good, fairly inexpensive party game with some fun minigames, particularly when played in a group. Colorful and fairly engaging (at least initially). Games are hit or miss, that is, surfing is pretty fun as is disc golf. On the other hand rugby and cricket are almost unplayable as the controls are simple and clunky in rugby and cricket is as fun as watching paint dry. Canoeing is exactly the same as sports resort, fun, but a bit of an old hag.

Summary: This is a “family-fun” type of game, simple enough for the kids to understand it and fun to play as a group; however, will this game take over Sports Resort in my family…no, not at all. It is cheaper and there is fun to be had. It is also better than the original. On the other hand, there are several better minigame/party titles out there (Rayman Raving Rabids, Sports Resort, Mario Party 8).

I got hooked on Frisbee golf after getting Wii Sports Resort and was looking for more courses to play. I only found a few other disc golf games out there for Wii, and this was one of them. The interface isn’t bad, but Sports Resort is way better for sure. Like Sports Resort, this version has a large vertical zone that represents the golf hole, but here, it’s a volcano making a cylindrical target. The graphics are ok; bright and colorful, but ultimately, pretty rudimentary. And the throwing heuristics are completely non-existent compared to Sports Resort. Here, you just adjust the angle of your throw and such, then hit the B button to lock it in. That’s fine and dandy for a 5 year old who just wants to throw the disk and play, but for those that want an actual challenge, or a game that requires even a modicum of skill, then this game falls well short. It’s easy to master this course within a matter of minutes, unlike Sports Resort, which remains challenging even after one acquires some finesse. I’ve also been looking into getting Tiger Woods 10 or 11 for Wii since that seems to be quite advanced, well thought out, and completely realistic. However, I’m concerned it might be too real. Sports Resort is really the best Frisbee golf I’ve tried so far — striking the right balance between fun, realism and skill.

As far as the other games on Big Beach Sports 2, there really isn’t enough here to hold my interest. I was bored with this game after 45 minutes and knew I’d never play it again. The Dune Buggy game is impossible to control, not because the game is hard, but because it just doesn’t respond well to Wii’s motion sensors. And many other games are based in the same methodology — surfing, jet ski, etc, were all buggy and quirky. I think the vivid colors and action would keep most kids entertained for awhile, but I doubt anyone else would be very captivated by this.

Bottom Line — Kids under 13 would probably love this game. But I traded mine in the day after I bought for pennies on the dollar. Not worth it.

I bought this to try the surfing game. I am a surfer and I would say the game is not very good. Only entertaining for a short time and then it gets kind of boring. You can not free surf and the tricks are pre-set and you just shift your weight on the balance board it the order of the arrows. All the other games are ok and the controls are difficult to master, even for my son who is excellent at video games. The beach buggy game is frustrating. I would recommend this game but only for less than twenty dollars. There are sure to be lots of used ones around.
